Resource
Based Training

The
‘seriously optimistic' materials published by Innovative Resources are
designed to be picked up and used by anyone without the need for prior
training or a training manual. Our materials are minimalist and interpretative.
That is, they can be used flexibly by people who create their own meanings
and activities. We don't want them to get in the way of people's creativity
but rather, to enhance it.
The
training opportunities that we offer are in keeping with this spirit.
Our trainings and workshops are creative, participatory, practical,
often humourous (even whacky!) and full of suggestions—but hopefully,
never presumptive.
We
build our workshops around the creative uses of our materials in accordance
with the needs of the group. We endeavour to be respectful and to use
adult learning principles. Our twin aims are to provide immediately
applicable ideas for using hands-on, conversation-building materials
and to inspire or reinspire participants' creativity—we all need to
recognise and celebrate the artist within!
Most
of our workshops are for two days; it takes at least this long to give
participants the opportunity to use an array of our materials. However,
we also offer one-day workshops and morsel-sized, two-hour presentations.
Some
of our training packages include:
Tools
of the Trade – an exploration of some of the best conversation-building
tools that we have found
Journalling
and Creative Writing – an introduction to the power
of reflective and therapeutic writing
Let
the Artist Out – emphasising the role of creativity
in maintaining ourselves as resilient and effective workers
Putting
That Book Together – for human service workers and
their organisations who have been nurturing an idea for a publication
but need some help putting it together
Community
Building and the Arts – imaginative possibilities
for creative community development through visual and performance arts
Creative
Teamwork and the Arts – innovative and enriching alternatives
to building organisational culture
Simulations
and Gaming – participatory, interactive and fun ways
to learn
