Children and Family Services
Families are important and we know that all parents want their children to have a fair go, but raising children is not always easy. It is reasonable for families to expect that help will be offered when things are difficult. When families can get help things can be better. At times when families need extra help (counselling and support), Children and Family Services (Cafs) might be able to assist. Cafs provide family and individual counselling and support, and advocacy while the family and Cafs staff work together towards finding solutions to family difficulties.
East End Community Project
The East End Community house is located on the industrial outskirts of Mildura situated at 8 Dove Place. The project aims to strengthen the resiliency of children and young people by enhancing the well being and safety of their community. The East End Community Project began in July 1999 and centres on enhancing the communities sense of connectedness, assisting in creating a safe community and developing a sense of community pride. The primary focus is on community celebrations and activities, which are inclusive of different cultures and age groups in order to promote community togetherness. The project operates in partnership with dedicated volunteers from the East End Community. Other agencies and organisations are also encouraged to work with the East End Community to provide greater access to preventative services. The East End Community Project is a community capacity building initiative which is facilitated by St Luke's and directed and undertaken by residents.
Other St Luke's services available include Permanent Care and Adoption, Community Capacity Building, Training and Parenting Assessment Service.
