Support for families and individuals in the Shire of Campaspe
Echuca provides a range of mental health, youth, family and accommodation support services.
Recovery Focused Mental Health Services
These services aim to provide psychosocial rehabilitation and support to people who experience disability as a result of a diagnosed mental illness. We can offer:
• individual and group support
• activities and socialising
• flexible home based outreach
• education about mental health issues
• individual program planning
• increasing community connectedness
• maintaining employment and return to work,
• as access to other services and resources.
Specialist programs for women with depression and anxiety, and young people with a mental illness are periodically available.
Planned respite service
The respite service is for adults aged 16 to 65, living with a mental illness, and their carers. We can offer them the opportunity to meet some of their individual needs, assist with planning and coordinating details and arrangements for a respite break, gaining support and providing information from other available services.
Preschool field worker
Preschool field workers provide support and information for families of children with additional needs who are enrolled in state funded preschools. They also work closely with early childhood staff and families to include children with additional needs.
Financial counselling
The financial counselling service provides free and confidential information and support, particularly in relation to debt issues. Financial counsellors help find solutions to debt problems by providing advice about laws relating to credit and debt issues and helping to find alternative options. We can:
• negotiate and advocate on behalf of clients
• assist with budgeting (planning income and expenses, managing debt)
• provide information on government and other assistance that may be available
• assist with Centrelink issues, and
• provide information on bankruptcy.
Financial counselling is available two days per week. For dates and times please contact the Echuca office.
Gamblers Help Counselling
This service provides free and confidential therapeutic counselling and support, to individuals and their families in relation to problem gambling. The service also provides:
• Community education programs to raise awareness of gambling issues
• Consultation and training for other health professionals in relation to Problem Gambling
Problem gambling counselling is available one day per week. For dates and times please contact the Echuca office.
Echuca and district accommodation support
This service assists people aged over 15 in a wide range of housing and related matters including:
• housing support and referral
• advocacy
• Victorian and NSW bond loan application support, and
• assistance to those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
Youth accommodation support worker
This service assists young people aged 15 to 19 who are at risk of becoming homeless. We can provide information and assistance dealing with family relationships, education and employment, financial matters and emotional wellbeing.
Foster care
Foster care is offered in Echuca but is arranged through our Bendigo office.
