Permanent Care

Permanent Care and Adoption Permanent Care services provide a stable and secure family life for children who, for various reasons, cannot live with their own family. Permanent Care workers recruit train and support carers who are willing to provide a permanent home for children needing out of home care. Their work is governed by statutory orders.

The Permanent Care team also support children who are placed for adoption. Adoption is a way of forming a permanent family, involving the placement of a child with adoptive parents. Once a child is placed, a legal process follows, which establishes the child as if he or she was born to those adoptive parents. When the adoption order is granted the adoptive parents assume all legal rights and responsibilities and a new birth certificate is issued. This recognises the adoptive parents as the legal parents.

This service covers the whole of Loddon Mallee region. Staff are based at Hargreaves Street Bendigo.
