Two day introduction to the Strengths Approach 

15-16 March 2010 Cost $396 Facilitated by Di O’Neil

This two day workshop explores and considers the essential nature of the Strengths Approach to Human Services. It covers the underlying principles and processes of Strengths-based practice and highlights the core skills. The workshop provides experiential practice opportunities using some of the tools useful in identifying and mobilising strengths and tapping aspirations as a basis for concrete goal setting.  It is suitable for those wanting an introduction to Strengths based Practice.

 

Two day Strengths based Supervision

One of the central challenges of Strengths-based work is how to be consistent with the principles of empowerment, self-determination and the Strengths Approach in our organizations.

This two day workshop explores the implications of Strengths based principles, processes and skills for supervision and service co-ordination. It provides frameworks for implementing the Strengths approach to service co-ordination and supervision.

This workshop explores the challenges of getting feedback that helps us improve the way we do things as well as measuring people’s satisfaction levels.

It considers the context of the workplace and the impact this has on how workers ask for feedback. It reflects on the values and beliefs they have about looking for and asking for and receiving feedback. Looks at a range of methods of collecting feedback.

 

The Travelling Toolshed

The Travelling Toolshed provides windows into the principles of Strengths based practice by exploring an array of innovative Resources’ original publications that have grown out of or been inspired by the social work practice at St Luke’s. In these two days you will be introduced to new and inventive tools that can be used with many different client groups, in supervision, in teamwork, in teaching and in organisational culture-building. Be prepared to laugh, cry and be surprised - but relax - there are no role plays!

 

Soulful Melancholy – Why feeling sad is no reason not to be happy  

17-18 March 2010 Cost $275 Facilitated by Karen Masman

What are the gifts of sadness? How can we learn to navigate sad times more skillfully? What part does sadness play in learning how to be happy? What are the differences between sadness and depression?  Using Journal writing, images, conversations and other creative tools, this interactive workshop aims to enhance our capacity to transmute sadness using the seven phases of Soulful Melancholy explored in Karen’s book “The Uses of Sadness”.
