4.2.9 Providing a Response role
The response role is offered as an additional resource to families who require an immediate (often same day) outreach service to further assess the needed supports and/or to assist with immediate support needs. The response role also ensures that families can be engaged quickly in an environment of their own choice.
The response role aims to provide a more thorough assessment of immediate needs and a clear picture of the ongoing support needs of the family that will assist with the allocation process to the relevant local agency.
The service will focus on immediate/short term goals to assist in preventing further escalation of concern/risk/family breakdown, whilst the ongoing support needs are further assessed and mobilized.
The response service also provides an active linkage role to the allocated/referred service or individual worker to ensure a clear and respectful introduction of the family to the needed supports/resources.
This response role may be offered by Child FIRST or the local family service provider.
